River Ranch Approach

Project Goals
The owners of the River Ranch looked to Bild Architecture for a vision for their wheelchair-accessible entrance. The existing house was designed by an architect in the seventies and the owners wanted their new entrance to continue the existing design vision.

Challenges and Solutions
In an effort to make the new design as low-maintenance as possible, a stone wall was used in place of wooden railings and a synthetic decking was chosen that would not need future paint or stain. The end of the deck was designed to be able to be open to allow easy snow removal in the winter.

Other considerations taken into account were privacy to a bedroom window and avoiding disturbance of existing tree roots as much as possible.
